If you are looking for a boiler replacement you have so many to choose from, but what one do you choose? This all depends on what you are looking for.
Do you want to replace your existing boiler?
For like for like, or are you looking to change the type of system you all ready have.If you have a heat only boiler.
This is where you have a hot water cylinder that stores your hot water.
You have a small water storage tank located in the loft.
If your old boiler is over tens years old then you could save around 35-40% on your fuel bill.
This is because your old boiler was only using around 60% of the fuel and the rest was going out of the flue.
You could also go for the system boiler replacement.
The system boiler has the pump and an expansion vessel built in.
Because you now have an expansion vessel within the boiler.
You no longer need the small water storage tank in the loft.
This is because the system will now work under pressure, which also save on the fuel bills. There are a few pitfalls though to having a system boiler that have to be taken into account.
First the system has to be checked over to see what condition it’s in.
If you decide the system boiler replacement is for you.
Then you have to check all the radiator valves for signs of small leakage, if there is any signs, then these will have to be replaced.
So the whole system worked under low pressure.
When you swap over to a system boiler, the system will now work under high pressure.
So if you have any form of leakage on you’re existing system then these leaks have to be rectified when carrying out the boiler replacement. When you have a system boiler fitted, the system is sealed up and pressurised.
If you have any form of leakage you will be adding new water to the system which is not good for the new boiler.
With a sealed system inhibitor is added to protect the boiler and system from corrosion.
Now you have the combination boiler.
This type of boiler is where you can remove all water tanks hot and cold, and the small tank that supplies the heating.
If you decide that the combination boiler replacement is the right option is for you the.
The same rules apply as the system boiler.
Most combination boilers work under high pressure.
Any form of leakage can reduce the lifespan of the boiler.
The reason being, when running hot water if the pressure is not adequate then the boiler will not produce enough hot water.
Most combination boiler manufactures require a minimum of 1 bar pressure for there boilers to work.
As designed, but in reality you are looking for a higher pressure. When checking to see if you have a good water pressure you may find that you have 2 bar.
But the true value we are looking for is the flow rate.
The pressure may be good but if the flow rate is too low then again the boiler may not work to its full potential.
if you are looking for a boiler replacement is to get in touch with your local gas safe boiler replacement company.
They will be able to discuss your needs and also carry out a few tests to see if the boiler you would like is compatible.
Of course any boiler can be fitted, but instead of just a boiler replacement it may need other works to make the system compatible.
Which then make the costs of the boiler replacement a lot higher than just a straight forward boiler replacement .
