The number of people de-icing their cars in the mornings
before going off work is a sure sign that winter is firmly on the way.
Up and down the country people are switching their heating on to warm their
homes after the summer months.
Here are a few tips on how to cut your heating bills this winter:
Firstly, you can look at switching gas your supplier.
It doesn’t take much to shop around and make sure you’re on the best tariff.
2. Change your boiler.
If you have an old model it may be worth considering upgrading it to a high-efficiency boiler,
which could cut your heating bills by around 35% in the long run.
3. Make sure your existing boiler is well maintained and serviced to ensure it is running at maximum efficiency.
4. Use the heating controls wisely.
Turning your thermostat down by one degree can save around 10% on your annual fuel bill.
Turning radiators off in unused rooms can save a fortune over the winter.
6. If you don’t have thermostats fitted to your radiators, get your local gas safe engineer to fit them to all radiators.
That way you will have total control of each room, and you will save around 15% on your heating bills.
Most of the heat lost from homes disappears through the roof.
Insulating your loft space will save you a packet on the heating bills, but there is a cost attached to getting it done.

This is probably one of the most cost-effective ways of saving money on your heating bills.
floorboards and cat flaps are the usual suspects and can be easily insulated to save money.
make sure it is insulated.
The same goes for any exposed pipework.
10. If you haven’t got one already,
invest in a programmable timer and set it to come on in the
morning and again in the evening.
